well, for one thing, it’s lovely and warm outside.

also i don’t have to wrap any gifts.

nor do i have to bake any xmas cookies.

but aside from that…i think i’m way too tired for not even nine o’clock on a saturday night.

kevin is in his workshop busily making bullets for his cowboy shoot tomorrow.

i got up early to go to menard’s.  this has been my ritual for the past three days.

they’re having a big sale on those kind of edging bricks that you use for a garden or whatever.  we bought 36 of them on thursday because we wanted to edge this area around some hostas we planted last year.  we also bought several bags of mulch.

we put down all the bricks and realized we should get some more to do a bigger area.  but yesterday kevin was very very busy with the boat, so i went alone.

this time i bought one hundred and seventeen bricks.  that’s a WHOLE LOT OF WEIGHT in the back of the minivan.  plus, of course, more bags of mulch.

the guy at menard’s said DON’T DRIVE TOO FAST.  bad things could happen to the transmission.

so i crept home in my lowrider minivan and we unloaded those bricks and it took a lot longer.  and then we had some left over, so we put them down by the dock.

of course we didn’t have enough to go all the way around, so, you guessed it, one more trip to menard’s for me.

kevin and wayne were FINISHING UP THE BOAT.

i went to menard’s, loaded in 46 bricks plus mulch, and then got home and spent a long time power-washing the deck.

i should take some pictures tomorrow morning and put them up here.  the power-washing is the other thing i’ve been doing besides going to menard’s.  first the handle was leaking and we had to buy a new one and then the hose was next to the motor and it burned a hole in it so we had to buy one of those.

the deck is now dazzlingly white, except at the bottom of the steps is the hose which is leaking so it’s a big muddy mess down there and i put out a bunch of mats but kevin walked right over the mats and tramped mud over the gleaming deck anyway.  but then he cleaned it up, i guess sensing that i was just a little bit over the edge about the mud situation.

but then mollie had to run out in the yard and back up onto the deck before i got a chance to grab her.  muddy dog prints everywhere.  and then shadow, same thing.

i finally got all the prints cleaned up…and then, finally, winnie had to saunter up onto the deck.  little cat prints.  more cleaning.

i’m not cleaning anything else tonight.  theoretically i’ll do no cleaning at all tomorrow, but there’s just so much to do around here.  cleaning, plus so much yard work you wouldn’t believe it.

oh, and the BOAT IS IN THE WATER NOW.  fabulous.  we took a little cruise, and then took another one when mom came over.

nice.

much better than xmas eve.

ok then,

saturday night grace.
