On the afternoon of the 27th We drove up Casey Key, which is just up the road from our place and right on the beach. It reminded me of Captiva Island, which had huge mansions lining the drive. But on Captiva, many of the homes were surrounded by tall walls or impressive shrubbery so it wasn’t to easy to get a view of many of them.
Casey Key is more narrow and for at least part of the drive there was just ocean on one side, mansions on the other side. Eventually mansions lined both sides, but they were mostly easy to see and it was really fun to cruise along. I had to take a video while driving, not the safest thing in the wold I know, but there were almost no other cars.
Randy had said he’d gone to the Tiki bar when he visited Lori Ann in Venice and I looked for it on the map. It seemed to be inland, which seemed odd, but after we drove to the end of Casey Key and turned inland I decided I didn’t want to keep driving.
We stopped at a little beach halfway in towards the island and parked so we could look at the water. We crossed the little street, and there was the TIki Bar! There was a restaurant but also a thatch-roofed open air bar and there were many folks enjoying libations.
Mom and I sat down on adirondack chairs on the the beach. A couple of boats were pulled up, and in one of them was a dog wearing blue goggles. So cute! Mom wondered why it was wearing glasses; maybe it was blind?

Maybe you can see that they also had a little dog.

Mom got us drinks from the bar – mine was a fruity milkshake that I think was supposed to be a non-alcoholic pina colada and Mom had some type of rum drink. “Boy, that’s strong!” she exclaimed. Luckily I was doing the driving.

Mom marched over and inquired about the glasses-wearing dog. . The woman on the boat said the dog wasn’t blind. but they wanted to protect his eyes. Smart and so dang cute.

The view of the causeway where we’d enjoyed sitting.

I’m fairly sure I’ve never seen a sign like this in a bathroom.

As we wound our way back homewards from Casey Key, Mom kept saying, “Gee, that was a strong drink!”
Next on the agenda was Beach yoga…
Ok then,
