It hasn’t been the worst summer, I supposed, but not so great. The good news is that I’m now covered by health insurance again, but it’s a fairly rotten policy with an obscene deductible. Plus of course all the other stuff happening this summer…I’m hoping the fall will bring brighter days.

Meanwhile…I did get to the fair two times, even though it was ridiculously hot. That’s a good thing, that the weather isn’t unbearably hot, finally, after so many sweltering weeks. Anyway…Kevin’s birthday dinner way back on August 4th was delightful and fun and a good time was had by all.

I went to the fair with my sweet friend Bev and we got there early, at 9:30, to see the Tip Top Tappers from the Senior Center perform in the air-conditioned Illinois Building. Bev is a former member of the Tappers and who knows, maybe she’ll re-join them. Afterwards many of them were happy and excited to see Bev and maybe I’ll join the Tappers to ensure that Bev returns to their ranks.

We got outside at about 10:30 But when we left the Dairy Building, there was this giant Eagle Scout and of course we had to have a photo op.

I hope the poor person inside that giant rubber suit didn’t have to stay in it for long. We did many fair things, going to the Coliseum and watched the Lumberjack competition way over at Conservation World.

The day just got hotter and hotter, and we were there for many hours and by the end I was wilting. But I’m really glad we went because Bev and I hadn’t been to the fair together since 2019 and I always relish her company.

On Wednesday, Mom and I went to the fair and this time Amy joined us. Just as Bev and I had done, we started out at the air-conditioned Illinois Building at about 4:30 and were happy to look at the many floral arrangements, some of which were designed by a friend of Amy and Jim’s. The one on the left was done by him, and I’m pretty sure he got a blue ribbon. Good for him.

One of us sisters, and I’m not naming names, was deeply concerned that Mom would expire in the very hot heat. It was beastly hot, and in the Dairy Building we had delicious ice cream cones.

To be honest, I felt they were just OK, but Amy doesn’t ever indulge in ice cream so she was very excited to get one. She dragged three chairs to a place that was right in front of a big fan, because she’s super compassionate and caring.

A nice woman took many photos of us in front of the butter cow, made of butter as usual.

We didn’t stay much longer after the Dairy Building and nobody wanted to get a bobble head – State Farm had a tent set up where you could get a photo taken and they’d putit in a plastic bobble head. I’d gotten one when I was with Bev, and of course I had one that was a cat. Super cute, and I hope to remember to post a photo of it soon. But because it was so hot, neither Mom nor Amy cared about the Bobble Heads. Once I post the photo they’ll be super jealous.

Right now I’m typing just as fast as I can because I need to leave in less than 15 minutes to go to my friends Gena and Tim’s house, where Tim is going to undertake the arduous task of transferring the voluminous amount of data from this computer to a new one that Tim selected for me a few months ago.

I love my computer; it’s fast and powerful and the screen is big and I love it. But it does this thing where the screen turns to squiggly lines when I tilt it and the computer place said it wouldn’t be worth it to fix, plus in October Windows 10 won’t be supported and blah blah blah computer stuff, I’m just so happy that Tim is going to do this incredibly nice thing for me.

Gee, I’m going to miss this computer. The new one will be great I’m sure, but the screen isn’t as big but I really don’t need a super big screen and I know Tim’ll be able to safely transfer all my stuff including my approximately two bazillion photos and videos to the new one. And now I must stop because in order to get to their house on time I have to leave in seven minutes and that’s not going to happen because I’m still in my nightgown.

Ok ok ok ,goodby computer,

Mrs. H,, continuing to have not enough time.
