Even though I don’t know when we’ll ever get to take another vacation, at least it’s very vacation-getaway-like around here. Here’s a pair of geese with their adolescent goslings at the end of June.

Spot on my lap in the garage on June 24th. This was just a week and a half after his surgery and he was progressing nicely. The vet removed his stitches last week and he’s doing great now.

He was happy to sprawl on the partially-cleared workbench with that giant green thing behind him. It’s some kind of…press? Some kind of thing for making things is my guess.

The next day Kevin successfully trapped Lemon Drop and we took her to the APL to be cleaned up and vaccinated. Poor little kitty.

Spot had never covered his food bowl, but that’s because he never had the chance on the porch. He now has plenty of stuff to thoroughly hide it from marauders in the garage.

Lemon Drop came back the next morning and at first she was nervous. She was lying inside that tube, and then on top of it.

And look at the garage now! Kevin moved almost all the stuff out and it was ready for two cats to live in comfortably.

I’m sure Spot was pleased that the big green thing was no longer in his way.

I don’t know if Lemon Drop is happy living in the garage now or not. She seems pretty OK but on the other hand it’s not like she says much. She’s not clawing at the door to get out or anything. She used to disappear during most of the day, and we’re pretty confident that when she was living outside on our porch, she walked across the road and got an additional meal from people who fed the feral cats by the university, which mus be why she’d gotten so very fat. The note from the vet at the APL said “your cat is obese.” Not very polite but certainly an accurate assessment.
She’s been in the garage for almost two weeks now and we give her little portions of food and she doesn’t complain. I’ll have to weigh her in a couple of days to see if she’s shedding any pounds, and I’ll weigh Spot because he got awfully skinny after his deadly attack.
Right now there are three Baltimore Orioles taking turns eating sees from the big sunflower that has sprung up next to the deck. Pretty cool place to be.
ok then,
Mrs. H.
