Whew. End of October, that sure was quick. Last week I was cleared by my surgeon so I can lug 10-pound weights around, or any of our cats. Except Lemon Drop, who hates being picked up.
Anywho…here’s a little bit of September. Waaaay back in September…I went running and saw several deer in the field, one of them a buck with pretty big antlers.

Ha ha, tiny Princess Leia peeking down at me from the top of the stairs. She really likes to hide and play and race around and scamper up and down the stairs. Still not integrated with everybody, though, and it’s now been five months…

Deer with white goose in the background. The white goose has taken off now, and we hope that it has found other geese who it can be friends with. Gee, the grass was brown back then. It didn’t rain forever then it finally rained. It hasn’t rained so much lately but at least the grass is green at the moment.

The car show! It was the weekend before my surgery, and here we are with the Thing, the Cadillac, and Randy’s Fiat. It had been unbearably hot for such a long time but luckily the Saturday of the show was lovely.

Kevin and Randy with Abe Lincoln.

Here’s Randy getting his first-place plaque from Abe. He was very excited.

Kevin won first place for the Caddy, but the Thing came in second. A boring green Bug won instead and I was disappointed, but when we walked back to our cars a guy with a big fancy camera was taking pictures of the Thing and was waxing rhapsodic.
I told him that it had come in second and he said, “Who cares? It’s first in my book!” So that made me feel better and put things into perspective. And the thing is that so many people seemed so appreciative of the car, everybody had a smile on their faces when looking at it. It’s certainly unique and now so snazzy…we have a month left drive it this year and maybe we’ll take it for a spin before it has to be bedded down for the winter.
And now that tomorrow is Halloween I’ve been thinking about the massive Halloween parties we used to host. Maybe we’ll have one next year, but something much smaller and more manageable. We either need to do that or go through and get rid of the many many tubs of decorations in the basement. I vaguely remember that we have a lot of cool things. But it’s only the vaguest of memories. As are many of my memories.
Ok then, Mrs. H.
