First, let me say that today, March 6th, the weather is crazy warm and wonderful and I’m going to go for a run in a minute. Yes, it’s too warm for this time of year, but it’s also completely awesome. It also makes me want to rush outside and plunge into the myriad amounts of yard work that needs to be done. But I won’t. It can wait.
Back to Florida – here’s our second day at the beach, when we went to Stump Pass State beach at the southern tip of Manasota Key, and I highly, highly recommend it. We had to wait in line to park because there’s a very small lot, but it was worth it because the beach was so empty. We got set up by 1:40! We abandoned the idea of the beach tent and opted for the beach umbrella which was at our place and it worked just swell.

There used to be a hiking trail at the end of the beach but some hurricane took it away and now it’s just water. But oh, so lovely.

Several boats were moored down at the end of the beach and I heard people in boats talking about another boat that was trying to maneuver out in the water; I think it was kind of shallow and there was a risk of getting stuck. One guy said, “that’s a $300,000 or so boat.” Geez. Don’t want to get it stuck.

I hurried to catch up with Mom and Amy who were walking back to our spot and Mom said to Amy, “Tell her what we want to do.” Amy told me that they didn’t want to stay on the beach long enough to watch the sunset and I thought it was kind of funny that Mom didn’t want to tell me that herself. I can be very scary, I know…:) The thing is that I love to see a sunset on the beach because I rarely get to do that. But it was OK to leave early.
Heron! Quite tame.

Pelicans!

I believe this is a para glider and it was fun to watch the guy as he flew above us, so close. That sure would be fun.

We got back to our place when it was still light and Amy decided to swim in our heated pool and I joined her and it was very very refreshing.

The night before we’d spent so much time figuring out where to go to dinner, but on this Friday night we found an Asian restaurant that we could have walked to if we’d wanted. Theplace was filled with locals, always a good sign, and the food was delicious.

A nice ending to another beautiful day in Florida, while there were threats of big snowstorms back home…
Ok then,
Mrs. H., here in Springfield where it feels like Floria.
