as january ROARS along…<\/p>\n

here, then are my final photos FROM DECEMBER.<\/p>\n

the night before my show, we had a couple of people over to see the dress rehearsal.\u00a0 our sweet neighbor bernice got up when it was over and seemed concerned about something, wanted to know if her car was unlocked…then somebody went outside and suddenly bernice was presenting me with these beautiful roses!\u00a0 such a nice surprise.<\/p>\n

me and kevin, before the show, in the incredibly hot and loud utility room at the hoogland.\u00a0 he has his special little lights on his hat, and when he stood backstage running the projector i could see those little lights burning cheerfully at me.<\/p>\n

erica shot the video plus took many photos.\u00a0 most of them were too blurry because of the darkness, but i like this one because you can see the video screen.<\/p>\n

such very very tall heels.\u00a0 boy are they sexy, but boy, i can’t imagine wearing them for an actual thing like a party or something.\u00a0 not that i ever get to go to parties where i’d need to wear such fancy heels.<\/p>\n

and BOOM, there’s all of december!\u00a0 soon i will update january, and there i’ll be!\u00a0 meanwhile i’ve been motivated lately to GET STUFF ORGANIZED around here.\u00a0 too many piles of random things – i cleaned out the closet in the bathroom, which was stacked with very very out of date bottles of drugs, lots of debris, many things that needed to go.\u00a0 now i feel inspired by my efforts and i just wanna GET RID OF IT ALL!<\/p>\n

which would be impossible, of course, because there’s just way too much stuff.<\/p>\n

plus quite a bit of it is kevin’s.\u00a0 he keeps getting a cold – he’s trying to recover from cold #3 – so i won’t try to pressure him, just yet, to START GETTING RID OF STUFF.<\/p>\n

ok, let me give you one little example of kevin’s collecting of things – he’s been saving all the half-gallon milk containers, and in the summer he fills them with water from the dehumidifier.<\/p>\n

but the other day i was going to clean out a cat litter box in the basement bathtub – the tub has been here since the house was built in the 30s, and it’s pretty rough, and you’d never want to actually use it for showering – but i thought it would be perfect for cleaning the litter box.<\/p>\n

i pulled back the shower curtain which hides the vast quantities of rust and general old tub nastiness, and was surprised to see the the big, old-fashioned tub was filled to the top with milk bottles.<\/p>\n

to the top.<\/p>\n

when dad lived here he amassed large quantities of random stuff, and i’m thinking that maybe this propensity has something to do with spending inordinate amounts of time in the basement.\u00a0 maybe doing that causes a person to save stuff like mad.<\/p>\n

maybe the over 20 year gas leak made them want to hoard things.\u00a0 last summer i wanted to use the outside grill but when i turned it on kevin said he smelled gas on the screened porch, so he turned off the gas that turns on the grill and the fireplace in the living room.\u00a0 every time we grilled, which wasn’t many times, he had to do that.<\/p>\n

but then we couldn’t use the fireplace, and one day last week i was complaining to mom about this because we have a nice fireplace and i wanted to use it.<\/p>\n

she went home and told dad, who immediately called me and said YOU MUST CALL THE GAS COMPANY RIGHT NOW.<\/p>\n

so i did, and because it was a gas leak, top priority, they came in 30 minutes.\u00a0 because THE HOUSE COULD HAVE BLOWN UP.<\/p>\n

they found the leak at the starter for the fireplace, but they tested all over the place and found TWO MORE LEAKS, both in the basement.\u00a0 one of them was right over the area where kevin (and dad used to) spends all his time.\u00a0 the guy said the new gas pipe hadn’t been screwed in all the way to the old pipe, so it could have been leaking the entire time we’ve lived here, plus the more than 20 years that mom and dad lived here.<\/p>\n

gee whiz.<\/p>\n

so it’s a miracle that the house didn’t blow up.\u00a0 i guess they never smelled the gas because the basement ceiling is pretty high plus there’s a draft blowing through there.\u00a0 so i’m pretty sure that just enough gas trickled down on the them to incite them to save worthless bits of stuff like crazy.<\/p>\n

it’s always something.<\/p>\n
