and speaking of pets…i just read more about the pet food recall, and the thing that struck me most was a report about china and their handling of food, which i suppose also includes food for human beings. the report said “chemical scares and mass poisonings are common in China, which has been struggling to improve a dismal food-safety record. Manufacturers often mislabel food products or add illegal substances to them. Cooks routinely disregard hygiene rules or mistakenly use industrial chemicals instead of salt and other ingredients.”<\/p>\n
ARE COOKS IN CHINA BLIND? how does one mistake INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS for SALT???<\/p>\n
personally, i don\u2019t store chemicals next to salt. but i envision a blind old chinese cook going to his pantry and shakily trying to read the labels on his giant glass jars full of white powder. i assume none of them are labelled, or maybe the print is very tiny, and he can\u2019t ascertain if it\u2019s salt or the chemical he uses to clean the toilet.<\/p>\n
and speaking of toilets…our new one has arrived.<\/p>\n
like i said, nonstop excitement around here, and it\u2019s not even noon.<\/p>\n
