dad was admitted to the hospital yesterday; severe breathing problems.\u00a0 most of my day was spent there, in that chilly, frenetic place.<\/p>\n

as time went on, the pace slowed down.\u00a0 by the time we left last night at 10, it was pretty quiet.\u00a0 still chilly, though, except in a few hallways.<\/p>\n

randy and me, salsa dancing on his birthday.\u00a0 they have salsa dancing on the last saturday of the month at the bar at the travelodge on 6th street road.\u00a0 the place wasn’t packed, but there’s some kind of salsa-dancing club, and a lot of those people were there, plus a group of young women who looked like they’d been at a wedding reception.\u00a0 interesting assortment of people, actually, both in the bar and wandering around the lobby, sometimes coming in to watch the dancing.<\/p>\n

the thing i most remember about randy’s birthday is that when i was driving home it started to rain.\u00a0 at that point we hadn’t had rain in a long time, and i was excited, but eventually i realized that there was no point in having the windshield wipers on because it really wasn’t raining that hard.\u00a0 and it didn’t last.\u00a0 and that’s the last rain i recall.\u00a0 somebody said yesterday that we could have a drought for 90 more days.\u00a0 that’s a lot of drought.<\/p>\n

gizmo, who is very very old and not doing well at all.\u00a0 he continues to hang in there, though.<\/p>\n

this is one of my favorite pictures – one sunday morning after doing back-to-back classes, amy and i were driving home in kevin’s cadillac; he must have taken the van to a cowboy shoot.\u00a0 this enormous pair of glasses was sitting on the dashboard – i think they’re shooting glasses, cause they said NRA on the side.\u00a0 i made amy put them on right away because i thought they were so huge and funny.<\/p>\n

amy found a stick with a feather on it at mom and dad’s and brought it over to lester, who loved it, of course.\u00a0 here he is when he first got it…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

…and here he is, five minutes later, when he’d neatly removed the feather from the stick.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

i had put a big piece of duct tape over the other stick and feather, and randy thought that was very ghetto and trashy.\u00a0 it didn’t last, of course.\u00a0 les is happy to play with just the stick or just the feather, and walks around with pieces of purple feather sticking out of his mouth.<\/p>\n

luckily, randy brought over a new feather stick, this one with a bell on it.\u00a0 both lester and chester go mad for it, and randy said i have to PUT IT AWAY before the kitties can get their paws on it and chew it apart.\u00a0 i think chester must love it cause of the bell.<\/p>\n

chester, so excited about the new stick, picked it up and marched down into the basement with the whole big thing in his mouth.<\/p>\n

kevin was in some lincoln video the other day, and he shaved off his moustache for the event.\u00a0 here we are at the tomb ceremony last week.<\/p>\n

as you can see, these pictures are in no particular order cause here’s kevin before the shaving.\u00a0 noodle is having the best time ever, getting to be part of the people at the table.<\/p>\n

here’s a fabulous cactus that amy bought at a garage sale.\u00a0 for some reason, when she left the house to go to the garage sale she wasn’t wearing any shoes, and when she got there she had to run over the peoples’ rock-filled driveway.\u00a0 luckily they had some flip-flops for sale and she bought them to save her feet.\u00a0 i just think it’s funny that she’d be in such a hurry to get out of the house that she’d forget to put on shoes.<\/p>\n

and such a CUTE PUPPY!<\/p>\n

we will be at the hospital in shifts today, so hopefully i’ll have time for more posting today, but realistically i’ll probably spend my free time watering, as i’ve been doing every day.\u00a0 we have some very sad big trees that we’ve also started watering, so it’s an all-day festival of watering.<\/p>\n
