he said, which was quite reassuring.

and sure enough, i made it through the night. i feel much better today, and even the scratchy, unpleasant feeling in my throat is gone.

the kitties were very happy to see us, although i woke up at five and realized that les hadn’t climbed up on my chest to be constantly petted, not even once. i figured he’d somehow escaped again even though he’d been confined for at least a week.

i got up and opened the front door, calling him, but he was nowhere to be seen. i went back to bed.

at seven, jim texted me to say that he’d seen les wandering around the front yard but luckily he followed jim to our front door like a dog, and jim let him in.

i was still in bed, very bleary, at this point, and i staggered into the kitchen and asked where les was and kevin said he’d just walked by. i attempted to convey that he had been out, but clearly i wasn’t saying the right thing, and there was a lot of confusion for a while but i finally made it known that all kitty and doggy doors had to be shut again. we saw les, crouching out in the fenced yard, staring at something or other.

after showering i saw zero kitties, and was horrified to see that the screen door to the back deck had blown open in the big wind. oh no, both kitties gone, and kevin wasn’t here to help hunt them down.

luckily, chester was creeping around in the side bushes and was ok with being taken inside. and when i brought him in, there was les, walking into the screened porch from the house. clearly his nighttime shenanigans made him so sleepy that he wasn’t keeping up on perfect escape opportunities.

things are very quiet now.

memorial day weekend, randy was invited to a wedding and asked me to go with him. amy was going to color my hair anyway, and she decided that i needed a fancy hairstyle for the wedding.

she spent a huge amount of time fixing it, and it reminded me of my wedding, when she kept putting it up and then taking it down, as the minutes ticked by and we were both very on edge.

at least this time i was in no hurry; she was the one who had to leave to go somewhere imminently, i had plenty of time before going to the wedding. she decided that i needed some clip-in hair extensions, so she clipped them in, and then she teased and sprayed, and arranged…and then she finished it, but decided it wasn’t good enough, and so took it down and did it all over again.

it was, of course, very fancy, and it’s too bad it was wasted on a wedding in taylorville where i didn’t know one single person.

the wedding was at three, and the reception not till six. it was a blisteringly hot day, and we were glad that the reception was going to be at a golf course.

we went to a bar and had a drink for a while, and finally drove out to the reception. yes, it was at the golf course, but OUTSIDE IN A TENT. without even a fan. blistering hot. neither of us knew anybody.

luckily, randy wanted to leave, so we missed the whole hot ordeal.

yes, another exciting saturday night.

i hope you are having a good monday.

ok then,

mrs. june hughes.

we’ve come back from another grueling weekend, fixing up kevin’s dad’s house. saturday was hours and hours of washing windows, sunday was too much time spent sweeping the huge quantities of dust, grime and dirt in the basement. it was capped off by pouring some noxious powdered chemical into cans of paint and stirring so […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1

post-8161","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
