oh boy.\u00a0 i haven’t been so much in the christmas mood yet – no decorations up except for the advent log cabin, and a gold candle that a client gave me.\u00a0 maybe i’ll start on them tomorrow, but i dunno, the spirit is eluding me…<\/p>\n
but i do HAVE TO CONTINUE WITH THE COOKIES.\u00a0 today i’m going to a holiday luncheon and decided i should bring a little box of them, and i couldn’t just bring the one kind (well, i guess i could have…), so i decided yesterday that i needed to bake a bunch more.<\/p>\n
i made two more kinds for christmas, and then a batch of low-sugar oatmeal cookies for kevin for christmas, and i was whirling around in the kitchen for a very long time, making a huge mess, trying to get it all done before 2:00 because i wanted to take mollie running when it was still as warm as it was gonna get yesterday.<\/p>\n
in addition to the klutziness that makes a mockery of my name, the crashing into things and walls and dropping dishes and glasses and everything, i also have a tendency to FLING open the kitchen cabinets and HURRY to get the stuff in or out, and shut them just as forefully.<\/p>\n
i didn’t think i did this with the oven door, but i did open and shut it about a million times.\u00a0 i know i didn’t BANG it shut, or maybe i did just a little, and i did kind of fling it open…<\/p>\n
and on the second-to-last batch going in, i pulled open the door…and the DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF.\u00a0 one side came out, and the handle dangled down.<\/p>\n
good grief.<\/p>\n
kevin said he’d look at it after the oven had cooled, so i finished up by prying the open door open, which wasn’t so terrible except that the whole door seemed to kind of pull apart when i did it.<\/p>\n
it looked to me like i’d torn a hole in the door, but<\/p>\n
KEVIN FIXED IT.\u00a0 no hole, the screw had just come out, he was able to fix it without any trouble.<\/p>\n
so this is our relationship – i destroy things and kevin fixes them.<\/p>\n
but at least he did get some cookies out of it…<\/p>\n
mollie and i did finally run, even though i just don’t feel like it in this cold weather this year.\u00a0 i remember that last year we ran in much colder weather, plus we ran through snow in the field.\u00a0 i keep piling on the clothes, though, like it’s in the teens – i wore a pair of running leggings, and over them, a pair of sweats, and my electric jacket set at 100%, and of course mittens and a ski mask-type hate i found in the closet, and another hat on top of that.<\/p>\n
i actually had to take off the ski hat because i was a little too warm, plus i turned down the jacket and wished i’d only worn one pair of pants.<\/p>\n
but really, it’s better to be too warm than SO COLD.<\/p>\n
luckily it’s not supposed to be unbearable this week, but i keep thinking that it’s going to SLAM us any time, sneaking up and dumping lots of snow and ice, with plenty of wind and subarctic temperatures.<\/p>\n
i guess if it gets too cold, we won’t have to go out.\u00a0 mollie will be sad, but i’ll be happy to sit inside.<\/p>\n
last night we watched “love actually,” which did help a little with my christmas mood.<\/p>\n
but if we buy a tree, won’t the new kitties climb it?\u00a0 and gnaw on it, and pull down the ornaments and break them?<\/p>\n
at least somebody else would be to blame for the breaking…<\/p>\n
