today as i kept furiously cleaning my house i kept thinking BUT IT’S GOING TO BE SO DARK IN HERE THAT NOBODY WILL EVER SEE ALL THE REAL COBWEBS AND THE DUST EVERYWHERE…<\/p>\n

and yet i kept going, like some kind of lunatic.<\/p>\n

very very busy around here.<\/p>\n

sunday, though, kevin had his last outdoor cowboy shoot of the year, and mom, dad and i drove over to the lefthander’s gun club to watch.\u00a0 david was shooting that day, too.<\/p>\n

here’s kevin loading bullets into his gun.\u00a0 that’s dad sitting there behind him, wearing his enormous ear protectors.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

mom and dad watching – mom had her own pair of unobtrusive earplugs.\u00a0 dad and i had to wear the super-heavy ones that weighted down my ears.<\/p>\n

unfortunately, they don’t give out any prizes for cowboy with the cutest butt.\u00a0 kevin would win that one, hands-down.<\/p>\n

at each stage, and maybe there are four or five of them in a day, they have a little scenario.\u00a0 this was the halloween shoot, and at the beginning each shooter had to hold a hot dog fork over a “fire” and say something like “you’ll never get my weiner.”\u00a0 that’s what david is doing here.<\/p>\n

and then they start timing and there he goes, first with one gun…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

…and then another.\u00a0 this surely must be the shotgun.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

that guy behind him is timing him, and see how many times david hits the various targets.\u00a0 he has to shoot several times with each gun, and then shoot with another one.\u00a0 they change guns maybe three or four times during the round, and their scores are based on time and how many hits they get.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and now it’s kevin’s turn.<\/p>\n

instead of pictures of kevin, i shot a video. here he is,\u00a0 guns a blazin’…<\/p>\n

<\/object><\/p>\n

maybe, if he ever has time to sit down and read this, he’ll have time to comment on the kinds of guns he was using.\u00a0 the reason there are so many billows of smoke is because he was shooting black powder, like he does in the civil war shooting.<\/p>\n

when he was done he had to make sure all the bullets were out of the guns.\u00a0 that’s jerry iams, double-checking that everything is AOK so nobody accidentally gets shot.<\/p>\n

he’s spent a lot of today cleaning the various guns in the basement while i ran around upstairs cleaning and doing stuff.\u00a0 i feel kind of guilty now, sitting here not working on something i could be working on…but it’ll all get done.\u00a0 there’s PLENTY of time til saturday night…<\/p>\n
