last night i went to patrick and gina’s lovely wedding, and there were many, many people at the reception and i even talked to some of them.\u00a0 i chatted with phil funkenbusch for a while – i’ve written about my friend phil before; he’s the Director of Theaters at the abraham lincoln presidential museum, but in real life he’s actually the KING OF THE MUSEUM.\u00a0 last night he told me that people were joking because that’s HIS TITLE, but i don’t quite understand how they can’t understand that that’s what he is.\u00a0 king.\u00a0 of the museum. quite striaghtyforward.<\/p>\n
however, last night phil introduced me to the guy sitting across from him, whose name is sam cooper, and he’s the technical director in the division of shows.\u00a0 hmm, two directors, and without them there would be NO COOL SHOWS.<\/p>\n
so i’m thinking that although they’re both directors, they can’t both be king.\u00a0 wouldn’t work out. might start a war. so i’m thinking more that phil is, OF COURSE, the KING OF THE MUSEUM, and sam is the prime minister.\u00a0 phil is in charge of the spectacle and razzle dazzle, sam makes sure that all the magic surrounding the spectacle doesn’t suddenly crash.\u00a0 phil gets the sparkly crown and does a lot of waving and hand-shaking, and sam has to deal with that whole loud and unruly house of commons.<\/p>\n
it’s august today, in case you haven’t been outside.\u00a0 if you just stayed inside, though, you would have noticed the crazy meteoric rise in temperature inside your house.<\/p>\n
tomorrow it’s going to be EVEN HOTTER.\u00a0 i spent too much time debating about turning on the air conditioning.\u00a0 then i thought “if it was 89 with the relative humidity making it feel like NINETY SIX, i would turn on the AC IN A HEARTBEAT if it was august.\u00a0 so i did it, and i think it was a good decision.<\/p>\n
many other things also happened today, but i’m too tired to recount them and nothing quite compares to the flat-out\u00a0 excitement of TURNING ON THE AC.\u00a0 whoo hoo.<\/p>\n
well, if you want to know the truth, i HATE turning on the air conditioning because then i can’t hear the noises of the outside.\u00a0 what’s the point of it being summer if you can’t open the windows?<\/p>\n
