i’m annoying myself now.<\/p>\n
kevin made it almost to FORT SHENANDOAH; he called throughout the day, and finally called about 8:30 and was just too tired to make it any farther, so he checked into a hotel somewhere.\u00a0 this is a good thing i think, because he gets to sleep in a bed instead of trying to unpack the van and put up the tent in the dark.\u00a0\u00a0 i can’t remember exactly where he said he was.\u00a0 not far from the fort.<\/p>\n
he’ll be whooping it up there in virginia, but i’ve already been having an almost UNBEARABLE amount of excitement right here.<\/p>\n
mom, dad and david were going to drive to jacksonville tonight to go to the ponderosa there.\u00a0 we don’t have a ponderosa in springfield, and dad likes ponderosa and bonanza and all those steak buffet wild west names kind of places.\u00a0 we used to have a ponderosa in springfield a very long time ago, back when springfield was a much more happenin; kinda place; there was one only a few blocks from our house when i was a kid.\u00a0 i remember going there.\u00a0 why do i remember things like this, and yet there are many many much more interesting things that i’ve forgotten?<\/p>\n
so anyway i decided to go with them because, well, why not?…and then it turns out that we got to drive on the NEW MACARTHUR EXTENSION ROAD.\u00a0 it leads onto I-72, and because we were picking up david before going to jacksonville, it was the perfect opportunity to TRY OUT THE NEW ROAD.<\/p>\n
i took pictures of my road to document this FASCINATING NEW PIECE OF SPRINGFIELD.<\/p>\n

i felt it was necessary to take a few photos so you could see the true wonderfulness of it.<\/p>\n
i also realized that for the month of may, almost all the photos i’ve taken up til now are pictures of the geese in the yard.\u00a0 so you can see how i’ve expanded my horizons quite a bit.\u00a0 getting out and doing dazzling things.<\/p>\n
ok, but after our enchanting meal at ponderosa we were driving back on I-72 and suddenly off in the distance i saw FIREWORKS.\u00a0 did i somehow fall asleep and now it’s the fourth of july?\u00a0 nope, a new park opened right off the highway; it’s a special, high-tech, accessible park and the fireworks were part of the GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION.<\/p>\n
i love fireworks.\u00a0 we got into springfield, drove up onto the macarthur extension and pulled over to watch them.\u00a0 we got out of the car and stood by the railing to watch, and they were spectacular.<\/p>\n
a very good end to the day, if it was actually ending, which maybe it is now, finally.<\/p>\n
did i mention that i got up at five to see kevin off?\u00a0 and ended up staying up for two hours?<\/p>\n
i think bed is a very good option at this point.<\/p>\n
i don’t know exactly what is on my agenda for tomorrow, but i can’t imagine it could compare with the sheer excitement of today.<\/p>\n
