i\u2019ll tell you how – i got SUCKED IN BY TV.<\/p>\n
i was waiting for it to be nine o\u2019clock, so i could call randy to see how his show went today. i had to wait till 9, because i knew he was watching “desperate housewives.” i turned on the TV while waiting, so i\u2019d know EXACTLY when it was over. <\/p>\n
meanwhile, i started flipping the channels. i came across “meet joe black” on amc. it had started at 8, and it was now about 8:45, and so i missed the whole setup. but then i kept watching…and kept watching…and every time there was a commercial break, and there seemed to be one about every two minutes, i would get mad that i was sitting there, SUCKED IN by the tv. <\/p>\n
and yet i kept watching. i tried to figure out how it began, but after watching the WHOLE DAMN THING, i\u2019m still not completely sure.<\/p>\n
the thing is, in the movie, brad pitt is the grim reaper, and somehow he gets into the body of the real brad pitt, i mean a live human, not the actual actor, and he becomes him and falls in love with this woman, and he\u2019s on earth, i think, to make sure that anthony hopkins dies, or maybe the grim reaper actually does the killing of him. anyway, i found it interesting that death fell in love (with anthony hopkins\u2019 daughter), and death had sex. and THEN, death wanted to take the girl WITH HIM when he was going to take anthony hopkins, but anthony was quite eloquent and angry and convinced him that this would be both bad and very selfish, and what kind of life would his daughter have, spending eternity with death? wouldn\u2019t death get tired of her, wasn\u2019t he just toying with her?<\/p>\n
i mean, i could point out that any relationship at some point is doomed to fail (not to be cynical or anything), but it does seem that being with Death would add some unnecessary complications to love, which is boud to be fraught with pain and heartache and misery anyway, besides worrying that one of the parties is THE GRIM REAPER.<\/p>\n
i sort of wanted Death to take her, and then i wanted to see just what kind of life…that is to say, what kind of existance she\u2019d have, being with death. i mean, what form would she take? because she\u2019d be dead, would she be just some floaty thing, in which case they wouldn\u2019t be having any more sex? Death seemed to enjoy the sex, although it seemed a little surreal to me, but then again, wouldn\u2019t it be a little strange to have sex with Death? and would she have to hang out somewhere, waiting around for him as he kept going back to earth to bring the dead people…down…up? see what i mean? i wish i could have seen what Death looked like at the beginning; i\u2019d assume he\u2019d be really, really old, but on the other hand being Death, couldn\u2019t he look however he wanted? I bet they didn\u2019t even show him before he became Brad Pitt. There are many interesting questions about what it\u2019d be like to have Death for a lover (i\u2019m assuming Death wouldn\u2019t actually get married, but then again, you never know), but of course that didn\u2019t happen, because this was a HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. death and anthony finally walked off together, but then brad CAME BACK, only now it was the guy whose body death had stepped into (death being very clever as well as wise and experienced, so of course he chose a hunky body like brad\u2019s), and brad was suddenly all touchy-feely sweet and innocent, and a little…dumb. he seemed a little dumb, anyway, i mean, especially compared to DEATH, who has certainly obviously been around a lot, has seen a LOT of things, and of course death would be all-powerful and everything, and you know that kind of power would be bound to impress a girl…<\/p>\n
but instead, she ended up with the regular brad guy. cute but a little vapid. maybe he really wasn\u2019t vapid, maybe he was just a little confused, since he\u2019d been dead (i guess), and was now suddenly alive again. people keep telling me that brad pitt (the actual actor) is a big stoner, so maybe he was just stoned. hard to say.<\/p>\n
i\u2019m mad, not only because of all the tv-watching with the annoying commercials, but also because now i\u2019ll have to rent the movie just to see the first part of it.<\/p>\n
and why didn\u2019t i go see wallace & grommit? what, exactly, was keeping me from doing that? <\/p>\n
well, lots of family things, mostly involving going to restaurants.<\/p>\n
i accomplished about exactly nothing today. and no chance of getting to sleep any time in the near future, since i didn\u2019t exercise at all. and i\u2019m suddenly more awake than i\u2019ve been all day.<\/p>\n
and WHY do you have to accomplish something every damn day, anyway? isn\u2019t it ok to take a break?<\/p>\n
yeah, i don\u2019t buy that. I need to work on that play. <\/p>\n
