i didn\u2019t know until this morning that EVERYBODY HATES HARRIET MIERS. i never, ever read ann coulter\u2019s column, but today she wrote that bush might as well pick his chauffer to be head of NASA, since he picks miers for the supreme court. this made me laugh.<\/p>\n
the very conservative conservatives hate her, but there was a good editorial in the paper this morning about how nobody should like her, because she\u2019s just this random person who happened to be bush\u2019s own lawyer who he decided to nominate, and she doesn\u2019t know much about supreme court things, which are VERY IMPORTANT.<\/p>\n
this is how i imagine bush\u2019s thinking might have been – “hmm, i need to pick somebody for the supreme court AGAIN, a lawyer would be a great idea, and laura\u2019s been nagging me about getting woman…do i know any woman lawyers? hey, MY lawyer is a woman! well, there ya go, that\u2019s simple, DAMN, i\u2019m good at making fast decisions!”<\/p>\n
right now i\u2019m just glad i\u2019m not harriet miers, because i\u2019d hate it if everybody across the board thought i was horrible. that would be awfully depressing, i think. i mean, sometimes i have enough trouble trying to think of a reasn to get out of bed in the morning, but if i knew that everybody thought i was bad, if i knew that i was going to be raked over the coals and scrutinized to death, well, i don\u2019t think i\u2019d even get out of bed at all.<\/p>\n
hopefully she\u2019s got some rose-colored glasses handy. <\/p>\n

p.s. christine just called me from a very very loud bar, announcing, i think but i\u2019m not sure because it was very very loud, that she\u2019s found a friend who wants to go with us to the fair isle, where you can rent a house for two hundred bucks a year. i\u2019m thinking this fair isle thing is a very good idea, in light of the flu pandemic, because i bet it wouldn\u2019t hit there, because it\u2019s too bitterly cold and INCREDIBLY WINDY. i can\u2019t say i\u2019d want to rent this house with christine AND this woman who i don\u2019t even know at all, because it seems you\u2019d have to have a very good idea that you\u2019d get along with a person before moving to a very remote location with them. christine was very enthusiastic about the whole thing (i think), but then again, she can get these crazy ideas sometimes, especially when she\u2019s had a couple of drinks. hopefully not more than a couple, because she has to drive home.<\/p>\n
NOW i go to sleep. all night long.<\/p>\n
