{"id":2826,"date":"2010-01-20T21:46:21","date_gmt":"2010-01-21T01:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/graceuncensored.com\/WordPress\/?p=2826"},"modified":"2010-01-20T21:46:21","modified_gmt":"2010-01-21T01:46:21","slug":"at-least-a-smile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/graceuncensored.com\/WordPress\/uncategorized\/at-least-a-smile\/","title":{"rendered":"at least a smile&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>that&#8217;s all i&#8217;m going for here.\u00a0 haiti haiti haiti, then that guy wins in massachusetts&#8230;why doesn&#8217;t the media ever have big stories about how people have been trying to get health care passed since about 1912?\u00a0 literally?<\/p>\n<p>so, something to get away from all that, plus of coure the DEADLY FREEZING FOG&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>first of all, i&#8217;m lazy.\u00a0 LAZY.\u00a0 i know people who wouldn&#8217;t go out of the house without full makeup and a cute little outfit.<\/p>\n<p>i used to walk around Los Angeles IN MY SWEATS.\u00a0 i&#8217;d walk down to the Whole Foods where people like patricia arquette would also be shopping.\u00a0 i just didn&#8217;t care.\u00a0 she didn&#8217;t look so great either, come to think about it.<\/p>\n<p>so i care even less about how i look on a day-to-day basis here in splfd.\u00a0 the bar for beauty is way, way lower here.\u00a0 way lower.<\/p>\n<p>and plus, there&#8217;s that whole thing about how i just don&#8217;t care.<\/p>\n<p>when i get ready for the day, the only makeup i usually put on is some eyeliner, although even that is very faint now because i&#8217;m running out and i keep forgetting to buy some more.\u00a0 and i fill in my eyebrows, because if i didn&#8217;t they would be completely invisible.<\/p>\n<p>so, eyebrows.\u00a0 a tiny bit of eyeliner.\u00a0 that&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<p>occasionally i&#8217;ll go a little crazy and put on some mascara and then i look SO MUCH BETTER &#8211; but since i don&#8217;t wear it much anymore, when i have it on it starts to feel like the mascara is weighting down my eyelashes.\u00a0 plus i have to take it off before going to bed and i hate to delay sleeping at all.<\/p>\n<p>on sunday night kevin and i went to dinner.\u00a0 it was a dinner for the 114th regiment, and he spent great portions of the day polishing the brass buttons on his coat, shining his boots, etc.\u00a0 so i figured the least i could do was to put on some makeup.\u00a0 eyebrows.\u00a0 eyeliner &#8211; thick, liquid eyeliner, looks really good, mascara, blush, lipstick.\u00a0 plus i spent more than five minutes fixing my hair, stuck a rose in it. perfume, fancy top, black pants that make me look at least five pounds thinner.<\/p>\n<p>all gussied up.<\/p>\n<p>we had a nice time &#8211; i sat next to a woman who had DRIVEN TO ALASKA with her husband, her son and his wife.<\/p>\n<p>YEAH, THEY DROVE.\u00a0 a total of something like 9,900 miles roundtrip.\u00a0 can you imagine?<\/p>\n<p>after dinner, though, they&#8217;d gotten a speaker.\u00a0 an adjunct professor who spoke about &#8220;civil war medicine.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 she was the WORST SPEAKER EVER.\u00a0 or at least the part i heard was the worst.\u00a0 she started every sentence with &#8220;now&#8230;uh&#8230;&#8221; these long gaps in what she said, on and on and ON, it quickly became unbearable so i excused myself and sat in a comfy chair outside the bathroom texting randy.<\/p>\n<p>i finally heard a smattering of applause and knew it was safe to go back in, so i did.<\/p>\n<p>a fine evening.<\/p>\n<p>went home, washed off all makeup, went to bed, got up, worked out vigorously as i do most mornings.\u00a0 kevin was at wayne&#8217;s helping finish up his basement and we talked a few times during the morning.\u00a0 he wanted me to join them for lunch at subway, which is the only place they ever go for lunch.\u00a0 i said i didn&#8217;t know if i could make it in time since i had to shower after working out.\u00a0 but i took a quick shower and decided that since i&#8217;d put on makeup the night before, i might as well do it again.\u00a0 no lipstick, but all the other stuff.<\/p>\n<p>i met them for lunch, good subway lunch, all was good.<\/p>\n<p>later in the day i asked kevin if he&#8217;d noticed that i wore makeup again.<\/p>\n<p>he said, &#8220;i noticed &#8211; but i thought it was leftover from last night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>LEFT OVER FROM LAST NIGHT.<\/p>\n<p>the more i thought about it, the funnier it was.\u00a0 for one thing, he was definitely awake before we went to bed that night; did he just not look at me at all to see i was wearing no makeup?\u00a0 and the next morning he kissed me before leaving for wayne&#8217;s; i was in my jammies, hair not combed, and still no makeup.\u00a0 he knew i went to work out, he knew i showered &#8211;
