Friday evening, Feb. 28th, we’d left the beach for a bit to cruise the shopping in Venice one more time, and afterwards drove down to the end of our beach for a different vantage point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plenty of people were parked in the lot across the street and clearly they wanted to watch the sun set while imbibing. It looked like a tailgate party. That’s all well and good, but the thing about that is that you’re not right there on the beach, and that’s where I have to be when at the beach. I need to be on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to go back to Pop’s Place for dinner and I was able to get a place in line digitally. I think we were like #78 in line. Totally bananas. We drove back to our place and strolled over to the madhouse that the restaurant was on evenings that weren’t rainy, like that first night when we arrived. I don’t know why people love these loud and crowded restaurants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started looking at some old photos on the walls; here’s what the beach looked like in 1965. Not a lot of traffic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was kind of dismaying; a line of elephants marching across the bridge. They were from the Ringling Brothers Circus in 1990. Poor elephants. I hope I’m wrong in assuming that elephants aren’t treated well in circuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe we waited an hour and a half to get seated? But once we were, we got our food almost instantaneously. <\/em>I was just happy to sit down and eat finally. I got another delicious fruity “nonalcoholic cocktail.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that was our last exciting night in Venice; our departing flight on Saturday wasn’t leaving til late afternoon, and it was nice not to have to rush out in the morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
