we got back from our very long vacation on sunday afternoon, but i was too tired to even think about the computer then.\u00a0 and yesterday was a flurry of cleaning and unpacking and lots and lots of laundry…<\/p>\n

i just looked at all 572 photos that kevin took and there are many many to post here.\u00a0 i feel disappointed because he didn’t take photos of some of the rooms we stayed in, plus there was this great pub\/restaurant in kenmore scotland where we had lunch…<\/p>\n

but he took many lovely photos.\u00a0 i took lots of video, too, and we’ve started watching that already.\u00a0 i could have taken more, but it was raining sometimes and i didn’t want to break the camera.<\/p>\n

i didn’t mention that we were leaving for vacation because somebody wrote to me and said that then people would know we were gone and could BREAK IN to our house.\u00a0 and kevin thought this sounded wise, so i didn’t mention it.<\/p>\n

i figured that you’d know that we were gone, though, because i haven’t written since EARLY JULY.<\/p>\n

i was going to write something from glasgow, where there was a computer mounted on the wall of the hotel lobby, but when i tried to post something the computer was running really really slowly and we were about to leave, so i couldn’t do it then.<\/p>\n

i could have written something from our b&b in edinburgh; the owner had a laptop that he let people use, and i turned it on one evening to find out when “harry potter” was playing.\u00a0 i took a quick glance at my e-mails and there was tons of junk as i’d known there would be, and then i could have written something there but we had to go…<\/p>\n

it was nice to be computer-free.\u00a0 many places had free wifi but who cares when you have no computer.<\/p>\n

i’d start posting some photos right now but there are still many things to do today including wrapping presents because today is kevin’s birthday!<\/p>\n

it’s not going to be such a big celebration tonight because there was no time to prepare.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

here’s one photo of the trip; i took it with my phone when we were in the springfield train station waiting to go to chicago.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

this is probably the least exciting photo i have of our trip.\u00a0 it was exciting, though, standing there waiting, finally finished with packing and running around at the last minute yelling at amy I NEED SOME TRAVEL-SIZED PERFUME! and DO YOU HAVE SOME BOBBY PINS? and stuff like that.\u00a0 the morning we left i decided i had to clean the boat seats because otherwise they’d be horribly stained when we got back.\u00a0\u00a0 i left lengthy instructions about keeping the boat covered and the cleaner they were supposed to use if it got stained, and people said they didn’t hardly go out in the boat at all.\u00a0 but somehow the seats got stained anyway.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

it doesn’t matter; our animals were all very well taken care of and they’re happy we’re back and we’re happy we’re back and we were gone a mighty, mighty long time.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

here’s a photo of mollie that jim took after he took her running.\u00a0 she looks happy, doesn’t she?\u00a0 we bought amy and jim some presents for taking such good care of them, but no amount of gifts could possibly suffice.<\/p>\n
