First of all – yet another Les Paul Crisis, this on Saturday. Early in the morning Kevin went off to an all day event and when I got up I went upstairs to sit with Pumpkin and then did a bunch of vigorous weight-lifting followed by going to Menard’s with Randy to buy lots of mulch. I pushed my pallet of 14 bags across the store and Randy, pushing his own pallet of mulch, fell on the floor in an explosion of laughter as the mulch kept sliding off my pile of mulch and I careened into shelves and barely managed to keep things from crashing off the shelves. In hindsight I’m sure it was comical but at the time I was just trying to get that damn mulch out of the store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a cold and blustery day, and we deposited the mulch at our houses and planned to have dinner later. I hung out with Pumpkin again and it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn’t seen Les all day. I did remember that he’d been sleeping on top of Kevin the night before, but was he still there when I went to bed? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And suddenly I was in full panic mode, running up and down the stairs looking looking looking for him. I walked around outside and as I frantically called him I thought about how Randy and I had found Les at Menard’s and wasn’t it ironic that we’d been at Menard’s again on this day when he went missing??!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hysterical. Randy called once and I said I didn’t need help looking but when he called again I was happy to have him come over and help. Meanwhile I’d alerted Amy and she and Jim were looking through the security camera footage to see if they could spot him climbing over the fence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randy arrived and we walked around outside some more and finally he said “I’m just going to look inside.” He went in and opened the closet door in the living room and out strolled Lester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whew, and also so ridiculous. For one thing, Les hasn’t climbed over the fence in a good long while and I’m not sure he’d be able to anymore. It seems that when he has slipped out, it’s only when somebody has the door open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess I was more hysterical than usual because of his recent health scare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the most important thing is that I hope that when I alert people that Lester is gone, they need to say “Have you checked the living room closet?” Because Jim claims that’s where Les was the last time he went missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is back on April 11th, Les up on the boat before we launched it; he was obviously feeling fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Voting day, I ran to LincolnLand to vote and had to stop on my way back to take a few photos of their beautiful daffodils. The ones with orange centers are almost my favorites, although really, I love them all. We have some daffodils but not as many as I’d like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus there was a beautiful clump of hyacinth which I didn’t stoop to smell. I like to sniff the few we have growing in the front of our house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, the yellow ones with the orange centers really are my favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I’m typing this i realize I could go out and buy more flowers, but I’m going to wait til I need some more for my deck. It hasn’t occurred to me that I could buy lots of daffodils; a neighbor just bought a massive amount of them and they look terrific, but I already feel overwhelmed by the stuff I have to do to maintain. Plus daffodils don’t last very long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 6th I glanced out to see if the raccoons were devouring the outdoor cats’ food; they manage to sneak in and clean out the bowls most nights. I was surprised to see this little guy, shyly nibbling. I didn’t like possums until a friend said that they’re gentle and shy creatures, so now they’re fine with me. But this is the first time I’ve seen one around here, as far as I can recall but you know that I usually can’t recall so well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

April 7th must have been a warm day because Spot and I walked down to the dock to admire the moon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things are peaceful around here at the moment but that can always turn on a dime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
