Wednesday, November 10th, we successfully got Kevin’s sailboat out of the water, but before that we made many many phone calls to try to figure out how to get it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason that the ramp at the Vachel Lindsay Sailboat Launch is so steep is so that the keel, the big piece hanging down under the boat that keeps it steady, is very long and would scrape the ramp and get ruined if we tried to get it out on the other side of the bridge, where all the regular boat launches are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s only one sailboat launch on the entire lake, but our awesome repair guy, Josh, told Kevin that he thought the ramp near the power plant would be ok. Kevin drove over the night before to make sure that the ramp was still open, and it was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glenn came over in the afternoon and we stepped the mast, i.e. they lowered the mast and I helped a little bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spot was delighted to observe the festivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It didn’t take long for Glenn, Mom and me to head out, the last boat ride of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin and Spot’s job was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the boat ramp on East Lake Drive Kevin was ready and waiting, and was soon pulling the boat closer to the truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…as I took a picture of Mom documenting the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d never taken the boats out so late, so we’d never run into the problem of the boat ramps being inaccessible. Lesson learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have more photos of November and will hopefully be posting them soon. Otherwise, we’ll be launching the boats again before you know it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Except that right now the lake is becoming more and more frozen solid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
