i’ve had a new flip phone for several months now.\u00a0 i liked it well enough, except that i kept dropping it.<\/p>\n
i drop phones.\u00a0 it’s just something i have no control over.<\/p>\n
i used to have different models of a basic phone that mom claims is called a “candybvar.”\u00a0 a basic rectangle that i dropped a lot and none of them ever broke, they were just banged up.<\/p>\n
but the flip phone, more sensitive.\u00a0 i dropped it a couple of weeks ago and a piece broke out of the flip part and so every time i opened it i had to sort of jam it back together.\u00a0 but i figured i’d make it work.<\/p>\n
and it did.\u00a0 until i dropped it on friday afternoon, and it broke into two pieces.<\/p>\n
i have no land line.\u00a0 kevin was going out of town for the weekend; how was i going to get ahold of him?\u00a0 how was i going to get ahold of anybody?<\/p>\n
i do have to confess that i don’t call people very much, but it’s good to know i could call people like crazy if i wanted to all of a sudden.<\/p>\n
i had no choice but to go to the phone store and get a new one.\u00a0 there were many many choices and i was drawn to one that the saleswoman called a “construction phone;” it’s very sturdy and can be dropped from many many feet and won’t get damanged plus it can get wet and will still work.<\/p>\n
i’ve never dropped a phone in any kind of liquid.<\/p>\n
i decided on a phone with a QWERTY KEYBOARD, which is cool and it seems to be fine and maybe somehow i won’t drop it, or when i do drop it, hopefully it’s more sturdy than the flip phone.\u00a0 or i’ll have to get a construction phone.<\/p>\n
but then the saleswoman told me…i have no contacts.\u00a0 for some reason all my contacts were on my old phone, not on the SIM card.\u00a0 all contacts, gone.<\/p>\n
i had many many contacts.\u00a0 i like to have numbers so i don’t have to look them up.\u00a0 people, businesses, anybody i’d ever have any reason to call.<\/p>\n
and suddenly, no contacts at all.<\/p>\n
it was kind of a drag.\u00a0 i guess a month ago i probably would have gotten much more upset about it.\u00a0 but after just three short fridays ago, that truly, genuinely awful ordeal of having to deal with my cat who went from breathing heavily to being gravely to being put to sleep, all in a 12-hour time span, now i just can’t get all worked up about something like having no contacts.<\/p>\n
it’s not like i was going to actually call anybody anyway.<\/p>\n
i did put the very few numbers i know by heart into my new phone, and i took people’s photos so i’d have that on the caller ID in case i suddenly forgot everybody’s names (always a lurking suspicion with me, that i’ll suddenly forget absolutely everything).<\/p>\n
i got my phone, friday ended up being ok, and i was going to have a quiet and relaxing weekend but instead i felt that i had to undertake many major projects and i really need to learn how to relax once in a while.<\/p>\n
