part 2 of sunday, january 4th – as i wrote yesterday, we got to check in to our hotel an hour early.\u00a0 we drove over to jensen’s marina to check in – the jensen brothers have two properties, the marina with their twin palm cottages,\u00a0 and jensen’s “on the gulf” beach resort.\u00a0 i’d thoroughly looked at both of these properties before picking the gulf resort – the resort looked much nicer and more comfy.\u00a0 the twin palms cottages were a little bit cheaper, and there weren’t even prices listed for the resort.\u00a0 but when i called to ask, i was surprised that our little cottage, called the “post office sweet,” wasn’t that much more than the ones at the marina, plus i was surprised that it was even available.\u00a0 so we splurged for two nights.<\/p>\n

the marina was cool, so laid back, a nice little place that i’d be happy to spend time at.\u00a0 now i realize i didn’t take any pictures at all of the place, except when we walked over early in the morning to take pictures of the sunrise.\u00a0 oh well.\u00a0 it was nice.\u00a0 but not on the beach.<\/p>\n

but THE POST OFFICE SWEET!\u00a0 i could easily, easily spend all winter there.\u00a0 it was such a darling, lovely, charming little cottage, just perfect.<\/p>\n

well, to be perfect it’d have to have been actually on the beach, but that would have been an even heftier price tag.\u00a0 but to get to the beach, we only had to walk across the tiny parking lot, underneath the three-story hotel building that housed the REALLY expensive guest suites, and out to the sand.<\/p>\n

when we got there we had to take lots of photos, before we trashed the place.<\/p>\n

but actually, we didn’t really trash it at all.\u00a0 probably because the vast majority of our stuff was back in the camper!<\/p>\n

this nice litte screened porch faced the road, but there was plenty of shrubbery to hide it.<\/p>\n

the cottage was actually a duplex; on the other side there was the “post office box,” and it only had a hot plate and a mini fridge.\u00a0 plus it was just one room.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

yes, it IS just a toilet…but really nice to have a real toilet after using the porta potta in our camper, or the public bathroom!<\/p>\n

here’s the view outside the bedroom door, which headed towards the beach.\u00a0 there was even a little tub of water and a hose to wash off the sand!<\/p>\n

darling, darling, darling.\u00a0 i’d head right back there right now if i could!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

we walked through town – here’s kevin; we’re at one side of the island and there in back of him is the other side.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

parking is very restricted everywhere, so unless you’re staying on the island, good luck parking anywhere.<\/p>\n

we stopped at the mucky duck restaurant, which was packed with people, but opted for going back to our cottage and eating some more freeze-dried camp food – this was a delicious beef stroganoff, plus we had a lovely salad with the lettuce we’d bought that morning, and some yummy bread.<\/p>\n

and then, back to see the sun set on the beach!<\/p>\n

yes, i know this is a very large amount of sunset pictures, but i just can’t help myself.<\/p>\n
