Wales 2015
Well, technically this is “England, Wales, Ireland, and back to Wales,” but that’s a little wordy. Most of our trip to Wales in August 2015 was, indeed, spent in Wales. Except for the 15 nights spent somewhere on the Atlantic, crossing over and back on the Queen Mary 2. Plus another two nights getting from Chicago to NYC on the train. This trip was completely airplane-free, so it took a while to get there and back. Kevin and I were gone for five weeks, the longest trip we’ve ever taken together. The main focus of our journey was a self-guided walking tour along a very small section of the 186-mile long Wales Coast Path. We walked a portion of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Wales, Tues. Aug. 25th, 2015 – an unrecorded day
it wasn't actually unrecorded, but my photos of this day are simply missing. there's a 20-picture gap between the last photo i took on monday night and the next photo that showed up, which is on wednesday afternoon. where could they have possibly gone? it's a...
Monday, Aug. 24th, 2015 – the shortest video of our trip!
i only took a bit of video on our soggy hike because at first the camera wouldn't focus, then i quickly realized that if i kept shooting, i'd probably break it. at least this gives you a little feel for the soggy adventure that was our hike on monday.
Tintern Abbey! on Monday, August 24th, 2015
as i've already mentioned quite a bit, it was an exhausting day of hiking, and i wasn't entirely on board with driving to tintern abbey, but i couldn't be happier that we did. we were meeting charles at a place called the Abbey Mill Cafe, right next to the Abbey, and...
bonus photos from kevin! mon. 8/24/15 – wet wales hike
Here are just a few additional photos of our wet hike in wales. kevin took these photos, and his camera is soooo much better than the phone on my camera. the reason i didn't post his photos here instead of mine is because he started his own blog last year and was...
Hiking in the rain in Wales – Monday, August 24th, 2015
i guess this is the way it usually is in wales. raining. we were soooo lucky, all those sunny days hiking along the pembrokeshire path. we got up on monday morning and were going to laze around. there was an extraordinarily long infomercial on tv about...irons....
a short video of Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 – Wyndcliffe, but mostly Veddw Garden
this video ends kind of abruptly, mostly i think because it was raining and i my video camera wasn't very keen about the rain.
Wales – the very very last photos of Sunday, August 23rd, 2015
it was a very busy sunday - we'd woken up in Carmarthen, driven to two hours Wyndcliffe Court Gardens, had a terrific lunch, walked around Chepstow and bought all the souvenirs we wanted, and then had a lovely visit to the Veddw House Garden, including tea with Anne...
final photos of Veddw – Sun. Aug 23, 2015
if you're reading this before all the other postings for today, you must click here: to read all about Anne Wareham and Charles Hawes' splendid garden tucked off in a corner of Wales. at this point in the day, we'd been at Veddw for only about 45 minutes, going kind...
more at the Veddw Garden – Sun, Aug. 23rd, 2015
i keep thinking about how fortunate anne and charles are to wake up to this breathtaking garden every morning. but on the other hand i bet sometimes anne wakes up and looks at it and thinks WHAT ONE MILLION THINGS DO I HAVE TO DO TODAY? and sometimes charles is...
Sunday August 23rd, 2015 – part three, VEDDW Garden in Wales!
i told you there would be a lot of postings about this one day. and there will be a couple of postings of veddw alone, because i couldn't stop taking pictures. as i mentioned in a previous post, before our trip kevin searched the web for information about hiking in...
Sunday August 23rd, 2015 – part 2
We'd had a soggy look around the garden at Wyndcliffe Court, and were eager to get back into the house for some tea and sandwiches and dessert. we snagged one of the couches right next to the roaring fire, and we'd have been happy to just move in! plus, the lunch was...
Sunday, August 23rd, 2015 – a spectacular day in Wales
This is the first of several posts i'll be making about this sunday in wales, because we did a whole lot of stuff that day. we started the day at our b&b in Carmarthen, had a fine breakfast, and headed out in the rain to the Wyndcliffe Court Sculpture Gardens, a...
