it’s like I jinxed things by writing that Winnie was OK as of yesterday – last night I stayed up much too late for no good reason at all, and this morning I was awakened by a sound that I couldn’t quite make out, but I suddenly knew that Winnie was having another seizure.  he was under my dresser, where he’s been lying in the mornings lately.  I don’t think it was too bad and it didn’t last so long – but he’s taking the anti-seizure medicine, so obviously things aren’t going well.  he’s sleeping on the rug next to the couch now, and he seems – ok.  it’s so frustrating, of course, because you can’t know how an animal is really feeling.

it rained so much last night, or maybe mostly early this morning – there was 3 3/4 inches of rain in the rain gauge, and quite a bit of flooding in the basement.

a dramatic start to the day.

the other day kevin put in a gate to the garden.  I love it that there was just a gate, no fence.  I was so busy doing something else that I didn’t even notice how much trouble he must have gone to.

the dynamic duo, so photogenic…

we went for a boat ride on my birthday and toun wanted to drive the boat, and I was happy about that.  she was too.

riley loves it in the backyard more than anybody, which is part of the reason why I strung the lights around the fence, so that we can be out there in the evening.  it looks so festive that I think the cats and I will have to have many nighttime tea parties out there.  or maybe cocktailes, since it’s all lit up and magical at night.

I’m not 100% satisfied with my new banner, but trying to do a panorama after dark was just about impossible.  the spliced together photos aren’t terrible, anyway.

here is how it looked, sort of, before getting so dark.

i’m going to go out and plant a few flowers now, since it should be easy to do because it’s so very wet out there.  hopefully the rest of the day will be more calm.

ok then,

mrs. Wednesday morning hughes.
