Tuesday, November 9th, we prepared to haul my pontoon boat out of the water. Mom and I headed over to the sailboat launch, but were surprised to find…
The dock was gone! Well, not gone, but moved out of the water and it was sitting right in the middle of the boat ramp. What???!!!
I called Kevin, and headed over to the Lindsay Boat Launch. Because this happened back in November, we’re not exactly sure how it all went down – Kevin says that he drove over to the sailboat launch, saw that the dock was up on the launch, took a picture and called me. My recollection is that I saw it was gone as we motored over.
We’ll never know.
But it doesn’t matter, I instead pointed the boat in the direction of the Lindsay Boat Launch. Many white pelicans were hanging out at the beach house and I captured these in flight.
There were lots of gulls perched on the wall and I don’t know if you can see it, but a couple of the pelicans were sleeping there, precariously balanced with their butts hanging off the edge.
We were happy to see that there was one dock still in place at the launch.
In the picture above, you can see that the back of the truck bed is closed, but in this photos it’s open – Kevin must have needed to do that to get to the hook at the front of the boat? All I remember is that there was a big thing in the truck that went sliding back but luckily didn’t actually fall in the water. What was that big thing? Something important for sure, that we didn’t want to lose. An air compressor! I looked it up in my daily planner, where I jot down a few things from the day.
Kevin is always such an acrobat when putting in/taking out boats. Note how he is so agile climbing around on the top of the truck bed cover. The truck is so far down in the water because the incline on this launch is much more shallow than the one at the sailboat launch.
Yay, sitting there doing nothing as Kevin pulls the boat out!
Two down, one to go. Kevin’s sailboat was going to be hauled out on Wednesday.
But there’s one more puzzling thing. This photo is date November 9th at 1:15 p.m., which is before all the preceding photos of taking the boat out.
But in the other photos Kevin is clearing wearing a white sweatshirt. But I definitely took this photo before all those other ones, and what were we doing out in the boat before taking it out of the water? And would Kevin have gone out on the pontoon boat with me for some reason and then changed into the white sweatshirt before driving the truck over to the boat launch???
We can’t remember, and that’s what I get for waiting so long to post all of these.
Not that I’d have remember what had happened even a few weeks after…
Maybe we went out for one quick boat ride before taking it out? And maybe he put the sweatshirt over the shirt before driving the truck to the launch.
Anyway, one more day of boat hauling to come! I hope your week is going well.
Ok then,
Mrs. almost the end of January Hughes.
Using forensic metadata we have resolved the mystery of the question of when was Kevin wearing his green shirt on the boat, and when was the boar ramp discovered to be obstructed with a floating dock, now dry land docked… I will leave it to you to expound dear…!
Forensic metadata, indeed! That’s because we only watch “”Murdoch Mysteries” where they’re always doing lots of that, except in regards to murder, not to the mystery of the green shirt. I’m confident that we took a quick boat ride before taking the boat out, and then you did, definitely, put on your white sweatshirt before starting the process of boat removal. Case closed!
