fixed!

by grace on July 21, 2017

yesterday, thursday morning, kevin drove the van over to the boat dock as i slowly left the shore on the boat.  i noticed that kevin had installed a nifty new black lamp post at the end of the dock! cool.

the water was still, no other boats around, and the breeze felt good.  i arrived at the launch with no problems, and decided that i need to start taking the boat out more by myself during the day when i have some free time and i’m the only one who wants to go.  the minute i go out on the water, i feel more calm and peaceful.

kevin lowered the trailer into the water and then even further down into the water.  this is the point where i’d have sunk the van right down, which is why kevin does the driving even though his left eye has gone bad and his vision isn’t the greatest right now.  but half-blind kevin is a much better navigator than me with two perfectly good eyes.

it took me several tries to finally successfully steer the boat onto the trailer, involving backing up, going forward, swearing a lot, killing the motor, and repeat.  but finally i managed it, kevin hooked up the boat to the trailer, and away we went!

see, a perfect day.

it was fun to be way up high for a few brief minutes…

and the amazing thing is that our boat guy, josh, fixed the boat yesterday and by the time i got home later in the day after going hither and yon, kevin had picked up the boat and it was parked in the driveway.  awesome.

maybe tomorrow i’ll power-wash the very slimy pontoons before we put it back in the water.  it’s going to be incredibly hot and humid for the next few days so we’re not in a huge hurry to get it back in.  josh said that he’d been out skiing the night before and the water temperature was 87.  this is very warm water, in case you didn’t know.  like very warm bath water.

and right this very minute it’s 97 degrees out there but feels like 113, and it’s going to be like that all weekend.  i’m going to the muni to see “white christmas” tonight, so we’ll see how that goes.

“hot christmas,” i think they should re-name it.

ok then,

mrs. july hughes.
