april thursday door

by grace on May 18, 2017

as i was running on the lake road i passed this intriguing opening in the underbrush.  a deer doorway.

it made me want to follow the path and see where it led…but i was on a mission to keep running and i’m sure i was about to be late for something or other.  here’s the road from whence i came, as everything was starting to green up nicely.

a wider view of the opening.  sometime i’ll make the time to explore one of these doorways to the deer world…except there might be poison ivy back there, and if i walked far enough i’d just run into a cornfield.  it’s a pretty narrow strip of woods in between the road and the fields, and there are waaaay too many deer living in there.

i took another picture yesterday, and what a difference a month makes…

i love summertime (although i realize we’re not technically there yet).

ok then,

mrs. thursday doors hughes.

You don’t want poison ivy for sure! Or ticks.

after i wrote that, i realized that there probably isn’t any poison ivy in there, because it prefers the light. but there are definitely ticks around! thanks for commenting, stephanie.

There’s a doorway like this when I walk off the main path in “my” park. So much fun to explore, although in mid-summer, everything is so thick that it can make for an interesting walk. 🙂

thanks for the comment, janet! i’m thinking that when it’s hot outside i’ll try to explore the path to get a break from the heat!
