last night, lots of watching tv.  loooooots and lots of watching of the oscars, which lasedt almost forever.  i turned the tv on at four when i started getting some food ready, and the only oscar thing i could find was the channel listing of channels, and mostly it was people in fancy attire standing on the empty red carpet saying THIS IS WHERE IT’S ALL GOING TO HAPPEN IN JUST A SHORT WHILE!

finally there was the real red carpet show but i wasn’t thinking and turned on the red carpet show that was on the same channel as the actual oscar ceremony, so i wasn’t watching E! and missed sacha baron cohen dumping “ashes” on ryan seacrest, plus who knows what else. but actually, probably the E! red carpet wasn’t that different from the other one, just mostly the dresses and the questions about what are you wearing, nothing extraordinary.

i told mom and dad to come over early if they wanted, so they did, and of course i was still rushing around getting ready, and maybe that’s why i forgot about E!  i was busy rushing around a lot and attempting to be a good hostess till about 7:30 or so, and then i finally started eating.

i’d made that mexican layer dip, which i never make, but mom had requested it and since it was her birthday i was happy to do it.  it was fairly quick and SO DELICIOUS.  bev brought yummy chips which i used to scoop up lots and lots of dip.

Bev also brought a huge plate of chocolate chip cookies, and a platter of bars made with snickers, and her STATE FAIR AWARD-WINNING cranberry bars.  i had one, and then i had another one and I PROBABLY ATE A HUNDRED OF THEM.

more or less.

because it was CRAZY WARM outside, i took a couple of mom birthday pictures.

she’s always very shy and retiring about getting her picture taken, of course.

i made a lemon cake.

later in the evening i started feeling a little sick from all that food, but i had to get a photo of bev with lester, who was posing of course and being adorable.  also was lester.

this morning, we’re all kind of worn out from the festivities.  mollie already flipped a cat food bowl off the counter and showered the floor with dry cat food.  i didn’t let her eat it all, and now she’s trying to sleep it off.

it is hopefully going to be a mellow day today.  i hope to post some more photos of kitties, but we’ll see how it goes.

ok then,

mrs. hughes.
