she is probably way way way too busy talking on the phone to the many people calling to wish her happy birthday, but eventually she will sit down and open her computer.
we took her to brunch at Abe’s Restaurant, which is in the travelodge hotel on 6th street road, right across the road from wal-mart. it’s a great place, with good, reasonably-priced breakfasts, not crowded, nice decor…you should definitely check it out. it’s open for lunch and dinner, too, but i’ve only had their breakfasts including a big side order of delicious grits.
amy announced that today was MOM’S BIRTHDAY, so our very friendly and super-attentive waitress said that they would make “special desserts,” and asked if chocolate, chocolate chips, crumbled oreos and chocolate sauce would be good. the wait staff seemed very excited about making up the desserts, and when we were done with our breakfast, they brought out a big tray of chocolate mousse, ONE FOR EVERYBODY AT THE TABLE!

have you ever, ever in your life been to a restaurant where they give free desserts to EVERYBODY AT THE TABLE? no, i thought not, because it just isn’t done. not to mention that it wasn’t just some frozen piece of cheesecake or something, these desserts were concocted by the pastry chef, who they brought out to introduce to us. she was a friendly woman named pat, i believe, and we congratulated and thanked her for her hard work.

because she’d gone to so much trouble, i felt obliged to eat most of my mousse, and now i’m pretty sure i will never eat again. very very full, and we have another birthday celebration in just a few hours.
so, go to abe’s! friendliest place in town.
ok then,
mrs. sunday hughes.
