the snow is coming, we’re waiting for more snow. it was due in here about six this evening, then nine, now it’s supposed to show up at midnight.
maybe it’ll pass us by.
if it arrives, i am prepared. i won’t be going outside. i am completely over this winter. why don’t we hook up the popup camper and head out, like the pioneers did? only south instead of west, and in a popup camper instead of some crazy buggy.
i’m just saying.
last week we had the honor of babysitting numie and noodle. numie can be a wild heller, but then he can be so cute that you have to love him. he’s actually furiously chewing the mutilated bunny slipper, the one specifically selected for chewing. usually he grabs the hedgehog or the bunny toy and would like to pull them apart even though he’s not supposed to.

it looks like he hears a faint crinkling sound coming from somewhere, which surely means TREAT TREAT MORE TREEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were a few deer down by the feeder; it’s inconvenient, picture-taking-wise, that they always show up at dusk. luckily the bird feeder is the perfect height for the deer, so they eat from it like it’s their personal snack bar.

this dove was just sitting there and i thought maybe it was injured, but later, it was gone. the last thing we need is to take in an injured dove. some around here would want to eat it.

mollie hunts around in the snow – there are so many deer tracks everywhere.

i asked kevin to go down and take pictures of the lake – these kind of look like tracks of some kind, but are they? amy said she and jim saw a fox out on the ice that morning (last friday, the 14th) so maybe they are tracks.

on saturday morning, mollie, noodle and i went for a run. it was mighty cold, but the dogs were ecstatic as usual to be out running around.
here’s a video, with lots of geese in the air over the field where we ran.
and this is the lake, after we came back from our run.

and here are some little bitty tracks under the dock.

so many tracks…

here is a glamour picture i took of myself, looking like a supermodel. i sent it to kevin, who was away for the weekend, to help him pine away for my loveliness.

on sunday evening, i looked out the front door to see a little deer about 15 feet away. he looked like he was going to come inside.

he must have heard me…

here’s a short video i took of the deer as more and more of them appeared.
ok then,
mrs. hughes in the dead of winter.
